The Physical Education program in the high school consists of an introduction to a variety of sports and activities. The course is aimed at encouraging a healthy and physically active lifestyle, improving both skill and health aspects of fitness and having fun.
The courses includes both team and individual sports. Other areas such as weight training, human anatomy and physiology will be covered to prepare students for independent workouts. Students wishing to become a part of the competitive athletic program can choose to join girls or boys basketball, cricket, soccer and volleyball to compete with local Zimbabwean schools and our sister schools in the Southern African region. Intramurals are offered throughout the year for those students desiring a non-competitive opportunity to further develop their skills.
Physical and Health Education
In grade 9 the program is divided into two required, one semester courses: physical education and health and wellness. In physical education students participate in a variety of activity units including team and individual sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, badminton, weight training, rhythmic movement/dance, table tennis, orienteering, floor hockey, rugby and track and field.
In health and wellness, students have the opportunity to understand the consequences of unhealthy lifestyle choices and make personal decisions related to their intellectual, social, physical and emotional development. Health topics will cover issues relating to well-being, substance abuse, nutrition, sexuality and human anatomy and physiology. The program is complemented by a well-developed athletics program in which students compete with both Zimbabwean and other international schools from Southern and Eastern Africa.
