The High School provides an environment conducive to the acquisition of both a foundation of knowledge necessary for university success and the personal values necessary for good citizenship in a global community. 

Through a combination of specialized courses in which subject matter proceeds from basic skill development to more conceptual content, students become involved in higher order thinking by formulation of ideas, justification of statements and beliefs, and problem identification and solution.  In order to maintain standards of academic rigor, the High School emphasizes the time management and study skills developed in Middle School and demands independent, self-motivated study since success in higher education and life requires ownership of actions, a sense of priorities, and critical decision-making.

The High School believes the main attributes of leadership are a combination of academic excellence and positive personal values which incorporate integrity, respect for others, appreciation of diversity, and understanding of group and individual rights and responsibilities.  The high school program models these important characteristics through the curriculum and participation in a variety of co-curricular activities including sports, art, music and community service. 

High School Overview
The High School program includes Grades 9 through 12, with this year's Seniors forming H.I.S.'s seventh graduating class.  H.I.S. High School currently enrolls approximately 110 students in Grades 9-12 and provides a complete college preparatory program with a selection of electives and extra-curricular activities.

Academic Program
The academic program is designed to prepare students for university while giving emphasis to the importance of learning as a process. Our curriculum focuses not only on the acquisition of knowledge but also on the development of thinking and problem-solving skills.   We strive for academic excellence, a well-balanced development of all aspects of the student's personality, and an appreciation for lifelong learning.
