Program Description
At HIS we strive to develop in students the ability to use technology
to gather information, to process information into knowledge, and to
effectively communicate knowledge to the appropriate audience. To make
this happen, Information Technology is integrated across the curriculum.
In the Elementary School, classes from Kindergarten through Grade 5
learn a comprehensive and dynamic set of technology skills during scheduled lessons in well-equipped
computer lab. These skills are taught through activities that
support PYP Units of Inquiry and are designed in collaboration with the
classroom teacher. In this way we ensure that students learn the I.T.
skills in context of their classroom learning and that their learning is
enriched through the appropriate use of information technology.
In addition to the scheduled times, teachers can sign out the lab to
bring in their entire class for research sessions and/or to work on
integrated projects.
