During the first two years, the program
focuses on
developing/initiating the listening
and speaking skills. It
allows the children to :
- -become familiar with the
new sound and “music”
of the language,
- -acquire a wide range of
vocabulary, survival expressions as well as gain fluency
and spontaneity when using French
- learn
about French culture through songs, games and various typical
food
Grade 4
and 5
While they
are exposed to more real-life-like
situations in order to
practice and develop their
listening and speaking
skills, the children are also:
-
-introduced to the joy of
reading and writing short
thematic and
age-appropriate texts in
French,
-
-exposed to situations
where more detailed
listening/understanding
and
more sophisticated
language structures are developed.
- learn about France and
the Francophone World, cultures, geography and places of interest.
